Hologram projector or hologram display?
People search for a hologram projector when they usually want a display. Here's the difference, and which one suits your job.
Life-size HoloBox911 displays chosen by NatWest Group, Hitachi, Capgemini, Maruti Suzuki and Godrej Properties.
- ISO 9001
- ISO 27001
- CE certified
- Made in India

A hologram projector throws light onto glass or gauze, so the image only seems to float in a dark, controlled setup and from certain angles. A hologram display, like HoloBox911, shows the image on a transparent 4K panel inside a lit cabinet, so it works in a normal room, at full height, with touch and no projector to hide. For events, offices and showrooms, buyers who search for a projector usually want a display.

Shahi Exports
Bharat Tex 2026 ran from 14 to 17 July at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The organisers reported nearly 95,000 business visitors and 11,315 buyers. Shahi Exports wanted its collection to stop people in the aisle, without building a catwalk on the stand.

Fluidra
Fluidra sells aquatic centres, and you can't bring an Olympic pool to a trade stand. At SFI Expo 2026 in Hall 14 of Bharat Mandapam, from 30 July to 1 August, they needed buyers to understand the whole facility, including the parts buyers don't usually get to see.

Three things people mean by "hologram projector"
None of these is a laboratory hologram. In everyday use, a hologram means a 3D-looking image that seems to stand in the room, and that's what all three sell.
| Projection on glass or gauze | Hologram fan | Life-size hologram display | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | A projector or screen reflects off an angled transparent sheet or gauze, so the image seems to float | LED blades spin so fast they vanish, and the image hangs in the air | A transparent 4K panel inside a lit cabinet; the person or product appears inside the box |
| Size | Stage-sized, with a large rig | Usually small; fans can be tiled | 7-foot unit with an 86-inch panel; a 6-foot model for low ceilings |
| Light | Needs a dark stage and a hidden projector | Best in dim light; blades show up close | Works in a normal lit hall or office |
| Viewing angle | Narrow; breaks from the side | Front-facing | A crowd can watch at once |
| Touch and AI | No | No | 10-point touch, AI avatars, live telepresence |
| Setup | Rigging, alignment, a dark zone | Mounting and a safety guard | Rolls in from its flight case; one earthed socket |
| Best for | Concerts and staged shows | Small eye-catching signs | Expos, receptions, launches, keynotes, experience centres |
Which do you need?
- A concert or a fixed stage show: projection on glass or gauze. Budget for rigging, a dark stage and a crew.
- A small spinning logo at a counter: a hologram fan. It's cheap and eye-catching, but it can't show a person at full height, and there's no touch. See hologram fan or life-size display.
- A person, a product or an AI avatar at full height, that visitors can talk to or touch, in a normal lit room: a hologram display. That's what most event, office and showroom buyers have in mind.
What a display does that a projector can't
- Talk back: at Maruti Suzuki's MQFC 2.0, a life-size AI avatar took unscripted dealer questions in English and Japanese.
- Bring someone in live: Hitachi's Tokyo executive addressed a New Delhi stage as a live, life-size hologram, with zero flights.
- Run all day in a lit hall: Monotech's CEO welcomed visitors for four days at IMTOS 2025, shot once and played on loop with no operator.
- Show products at true scale: Couture India showed necklaces, rings and gemstones in 360° 3D, and Fluidra showed an Olympic pool and plant room.
- Take touch: visitors used a touch menu at NatWest Group's X Stock Elevate 2026.
What it takes to run one
- Power: one earthed single-phase socket. About 550 W on standby and 700 W at full load.
- Room: a level indoor floor, between -5 °C and 30 °C, away from direct sun.
- Route: openings of at least 8'6" by 4'5", and any lift rated 300 kg or more. See what a venue needs.
- Content: a live feed needs a 100 Mbps uplink at the sending end. Content made for you usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

What is the difference between a hologram projector and a hologram display?
A projector throws light onto glass, film or gauze, so the image seems to float only in a dark, controlled setup. A hologram display such as the HoloBox911 shows the image on a transparent 4K panel inside a lit 7-foot cabinet, so it works in a normal room.
Is a hologram display a real hologram?
No, and neither is a projector or a fan. Each creates a 3D-looking image rather than a laboratory hologram. What the HoloBox911 adds is a person at full height on an 86-inch panel, in a normally lit room, with 10-point touch and an AI option.
Can I use a hologram projector at a trade show?
Only if you can build a dark, enclosed area and hide the projector. Most stands are brightly lit, which is why exhibitors use a display. Shahi Exports ran a HoloBox911 for four days at Bharat Tex 2026, and Fluidra at SFI Expo 2026.
Which is easier to set up?
A display, because there is nothing to align. The HoloBox911 arrives in one 300 kg flight case, plugs into an earthed socket and is calibrated on site before doors open. A projection setup needs the projector, the screen material, the angles and the darkness all right together.
Does a hologram display need a dark room?
No. The HoloBox911 is visible glasses-free in a normally lit indoor room, at an exhibition, in a lobby or on a stage. It must be indoors, air-conditioned and between −5 °C and 30 °C, away from direct sunlight and glass roofs.
Can people touch or talk to it?
Yes, on a display. The HoloBox911 has 10-point infrared touch across its whole panel, and an AI avatar can answer questions aloud from your own documents. NatWest Group visitors tapped a menu, asked an AI host and spoke to a remote banker on one unit.
Can a speaker appear live on either?
Both can show a live feed, but a display does it in a lit room at full height. Hitachi's Tokyo executive appeared live on a New Delhi stage on a HoloBox911. The sending end needs a 100 Mbps uplink, and the delay is about 0.4 seconds.
What is a hologram box?
A cabinet with a transparent screen and built-in lighting that makes people and products appear to stand inside it. The HoloBox911 is a life-size hologram box, 7 feet or 6 feet tall, made in India, in four finishes: Aurum Gold, Brushed Silver, Midnight Black and Studio White.
Do I need a technician to run it?
Not for recorded content, which loops on its own. Monotech Engineers' CEO welcome ran for four days at IMTOS 2025 with no operator. For live telepresence or an interactive AI avatar, an operator is available at extra cost, agreed in your quote.
Can I see one before deciding?
Yes. Book a demo at our Noida Display Centre in Sector 132, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm, or at our Thane Display Centre in Wagle Estate, by appointment. Call +91 84479 20977 or use the form below, and we reply within one working day.
